Not Your Typical Easter Weekend Post

“That hair stylist has so much more natural talent than I do…”

“They have such a nice house while I’m still living in our little apartment…”

“They don’t even have to try. Their hair is always perfect straight out of bed, they’re skin has never seen a blemish, all of their outfits are perfection…”

“She goes on so many trips and gets to vacation all the time with her husband…”

“They have the ‘goal’ marriage…”

“She looks so fit all the time and hardly has to try…”

Should I go on? Do you get where I’m going?

Thoughts like these can so easily consume me (and often do in this world of social media highlight reels). I scroll through Instagram or walk around Target and I pick myself apart as I see all of these “perfect” people. Comparing myself to anyone and everyone can turn my day totally around and put me in the worst mindset that is totally focused on me. BUT when you take the focus from who you are and turn it to WHOSE you are, it's a life game-changer.

Chosen. Valued. Wanted. Loved.

THOSE are the names you can identify when you see what He says about you. They are not names that I would have normally covered myself with. Finding and trying to feel those things through the people around you, even the people who love and care for you the most in this world, will never do it for you. But when Jesus calls us by these names, you can rest knowing that you are chosen. You are valued and wanted. And you are absolutely loved.

You were made for such a specific reason. There is HUGE purpose for your life and you are needed in this world. He has plans for you that are so much greater than anything we could come up with ourselves. He chose you and finds so much value in YOU.

There is no greater love than the love of Jesus. It is sweet and pure and isn't turned off by the bad in you. It's true! The things you do could never make Him not love you or not want you. That is what is so huge about His love, it isn't like our conditional humanly love. Did you know that He died because He loves you? This isn't your typical Easter week post & I will be the first to say that it is a bit all over the place (my pregnancy brain refuses to reign it in + just keeps rambling on. Bear with me...), but this is what has been on my heart.

I work in the beauty industry and it is a very superficial, outward-beauty-focused industry - obviously. It is really easy for me to get caught up in all of that so I just have really felt that somebody needed to hear me say these words. I know I need to remind myself of them + I think back to my teenage self who needed to believe them.

So say it with me: He chose me. He wants me. He finds value in me. He really truly loves me.

Ephesians 1:4 "For He chose us in Him before the creation of the world..."

Matthew 10:31 "...You are more valuable than many sparrows."

Ephesians 3:17-18 "I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have the power, together with all the Lord's holy people, to grasp how wide and how long and how high and how deep is the love of Christ, and to know that this love surpasses knowledge..."

Jeremiah 31:3 "...I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with unfailing kindness."

John 15:16 "You did not choose me, but I chose you..."

Jeremiah 29:11 "'For I know the plans I have for you,' declares the Lord, 'plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future.'"

John 3:16-17 "For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only son that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish but will have eternal life. For God did not send His son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through Him."
